Tribute album

Individual wellbeing is also dependent on the wellbeing of the community. Albums such as this illustrate the way in which the Chinese government recorded information on the numerous minorities that existed within their Empire. It was considered important for the smooth running of the country, to have an understanding and empathy with all those who lived within its
borders.
The Miao-tzu albums take their name from one of the major southern minorities in China and give details and illustrations of the different tribes due to bring tribute to the Emperor. The illustration shows four men of the Black Mia) playing the mouth organ (sheng).
