Public engagement with science

Overview

The Wellcome Library provides a unique collection of materials which enables users to gain a greater knowledge of the various aspects of public engagement with science, science communication and the impact of science on society.

Target audience

The collection will be of interest to the general public, science communicators, the media, science communication students and tutors, scientists, science policy analysts and librarians.

Available resources

The collection provides books, journals, databases, press cuttings files and videos for visitors with an academic interest in the public understanding of science and the need for information on:

  • the public's understanding of and attitudes to science
  • public consultation and participation in science
  • the role of science in society
  • the science versus religion controversy
  • the portrayal of science in the media
  • the 'Two Cultures' debate and interaction between science and the arts
  • science communication.

Many of our journals and databases also focus on public engagement with science.
